Former US President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Wednesday (local time) attacked Iran, saying that the Islamic country will be “demolished” if it is involved in attempts to assassinate former presidents and presidential candidates. This came after Trump alleged that he has received “huge threats” from Iran after surviving two assassination attempts in two months.
“If I were president, I would tell the threatening country, in this case Iran, if you do anything to harm this man, we will destroy your greatest cities and your country. We will destroy it,” Trump said to cheers at a rally in Mint Hill, North Carolina.
“There have been two attempts to kill me that we know of, and they may or may not have involved Iran, but it’s possible they did, but I really don’t know,” he said.
