Potential Democratic presidential nominee And Vice President Kamala Harris is being called a “DEI hire” by Republicans – a diversity, equity and inclusion hire. What exactly is a DEI hire, and why are Republicans using the term to attack Harris, a politician of Indian-Jamaican descent.

Tennessee Republican Rep. Tim Burchett called Kamala Harris a DEI vice president.

“The media supported this president, lied to Americans, tried to appease the American people for three years and then abandoned him for our DEI vice president.”

He also said in an interview with CNN that Biden chose Harris because she was a black woman.

He added, “100% he is employed by DEI.”

What does diversity, equity, and inclusion hiring mean?

“This disaster whose only qualifications are having a vagina and the right skin color.”

Harris has faced such racial slurs because of her Indian and Jamaican heritage. She is also the first female Vice President of the US. Now, she is the first black woman to be a presidential candidate of a major party in the US.

But what exactly is the deployment of DEI in the US?

A DEI is a person hired to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion within an organization.

This is done to ensure diverse perspectives are brought into the workplace and leadership roles. Corporations, NGOs, educational institutions, healthcare, and governing agencies all have some form of DEI hiring practices.

But Harris isn’t the first DEI target for America’s Grand Old Party. According to a count by The Chronicle of Higher Education, 85 anti-DEI bills have been introduced in the U.S. Congress since last year that would affect college programs.

People on social media have come out in support of Kamala Harris, saying her qualifications are greater than anyone in the Republican Party and her journey should be respected.

Republicans and right-wingers attack Harris

As for Kamala Harris, the ‘DEI appointment’ is part of a series of comments she has faced during the US presidential campaign.

Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance also sparked controversy when he described Harris as part of a group of “childless women” who have “no direct interest” in America.

Harris has no biological children, but is stepmother to two children with her husband, Doug Emhoff.

The comments sparked a wave of support for Harris, including from renowned actress Jennifer Aniston.

On Sunday, Kamala Harris received support from several prominent Indian-Americans, including author Salman Rushdie.

Harris was the only person Rushdie saidWho will be able to stop Donald Trump from turning America into a more authoritarian country.
