Weather update: IMD predicts rainfall, flash flood risk in THESE states today

West and Central India

In an official release, IMD said, “Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over Gujarat region on the 4th.”

IMD said, “In the coming week, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Konkan & Goa and Gujarat region. Heavy rainfall is likely over West Madhya Pradesh and Saurashtra & Kutch from 3rd to 7th. Heavy rainfall is likely over East Madhya Pradesh on 4th and 5th, while Vidarbha will receive heavy rainfall on 3rd and 4th. Heavy rainfall is likely over Chhattisgarh from 4th to 9th, and Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra from 3rd and 6th to 9th.”

The IMD said that there is a possibility of low to moderate flooding over some catchment areas and adjoining areas of East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat region on September 3 and 4.

Meanwhile, rains continued in parts of Rajasthan even as the local weather department had forecast that the monsoon would remain active this week. PTI Report.

South Peninsular India

Coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe and Lakshadweep are likely to receive widespread light to moderate rainfall. Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam and Telangana are likely to receive scattered to widespread light to moderate rainfall. At the same time, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, North Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema and Interior Karnataka may receive scattered to moderate rainfall throughout the week.

Heavy rains are expected over Kerala, Mahe and interior Karnataka on September 3 as well as coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and coastal Karnataka till September 7. Apart from this, heavy rains are also expected over Telangana on September 4.

The IMD has forecast that widespread light to moderate rain is likely over Northeast India, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. “Scattered light to moderate rain is likely over Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha throughout the week,” the IMD said.

Apart from this, heavy rainfall is expected over Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura in the next 7 days.

Heavy rain is likely over Arunachal Pradesh till the 6th, and over Andaman and Nicobar Islands on the 4th. Heavy rain is likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on the 4th and 5th, over Bihar on the 4th and over Odisha from 5th to 7th September.

North-West India

“Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected over the state,” the IMD said. Jammu and Kashmir– Scattered rain is expected over Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Scattered rain is expected over Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh and Jammu and Kashmir. Delhi All week.”

IMD said that heavy rainfall is expected in eastern Rajasthan in the next 7 days, in Uttarakhand from 3rd to 6th, in Punjab and Haryana on 3rd, in western Uttar Pradesh on 5th, in eastern Uttar Pradesh on 5th and 6th and in western Rajasthan till 7th September.
