Have you ever wondered why US presidential elections are held only on Tuesday? This tradition began in 1845 when Congress established the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November as Election Day.
In this decision it was kept in mind that America was mainly an agricultural country. Farmers needed time to travel to polling stations after working on their farms, and the Monday after Sunday provided a full day for travel.
Over time, this practice has become a tradition that endures.
