Amid fears of a full-blown war between Israel and Hezbollah and a wider regional conflict, the governments of the United States and the United Kingdom have advised their citizens to leave Lebanon on “any available ticket”.
The US Embassy in Lebanon said that although some airlines have suspended operations to the country, flights are still available and citizens should book tickets on any available flights to leave the Middle Eastern country. news agency AFP informed of.
“The U.S. Embassy Beirut notes that several airlines have suspended or canceled flights, and many flights are sold out; however, commercial transportation options remain available to leave Lebanon. For those wishing to leave Lebanon, we encourage them to book any ticket that is available, even if that flight does not depart immediately or does not follow their first-choice route,” the U.S. Embassy in Beirut said.
Meanwhile, the British government has also instructed all British citizens present in Lebanon to leave from there immediately.
“Tensions remain high and the situation could deteriorate rapidly,” British Foreign Secretary David Lammy said in a statement.
“While we are working around the clock to strengthen our consular presence in Lebanon, my message to British nationals there is clear – leave immediately,” he said, according to news agency AFP.
Apart from America and Britain, many other countries have also issued advisories to their citizens asking them to leave Lebanon as soon as possible.
