Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has resigned as part of a major government reshuffle, the speaker of parliament said on Wednesday.
The announcement came a day after several other ministers resigned in a significant government restructuring two-and-a-half years after the Russian invasion.
Mr Kuleba – the face of Ukrainian diplomacy during the war – is the most senior of the ministers to offer to step down.
“Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada has received the resignation of Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba,” Ruslan Stefanchuk said on social media. He added that parliament would soon vote on the resignation request.
The 43-year-old has held the position since 2020 and has traveled around the world to advocate Western support for Kiev and sanctions on Moscow since Russia’s 2022 attack.
Several ministers submitted their resignations on Tuesday, including the ministers of Justice, Strategic Industries and Environmental Protection.
