A British couple has been accused of eating at a local restaurant and fleecing the public of £120 (roughly Rs. 12,000) after posting pictures of their meal on Facebook, reports Mirror.
The pair reportedly enjoyed delicious burgers, halloumi fries and cocktails at the Lazy Fox restaurant in Westbourne on August 5, before slipping out on the pretext of a cigarette break and disappearing.
“About 10 minutes after they left we realized they were gone,” said Mauricio Spinola, co-owner of the restaurant.
Spinola said the incident is a financial setback for the small business and police have been notified.
“For a small business like us this is a huge hit, we can’t afford to lose more than £100 in the current climate. We can’t ask people to hand over their phone or wallet when they go out for a cigarette. Most of our customers are wonderful and would find this weird,” Spinola said.
A waitress who served the couple said they were very energetic and the woman appeared intoxicated. She said, “He was with a white woman who had dark red lipstick and she was wearing a white top under a white dress… We were keeping a close eye on them, especially when it came to serving them drinks.”
Co-owner Enoli Fernandez criticised the couple for shamelessly bragging about the free food on Facebook and called their actions “stupid”.
Since the incident, other local eateries have also claimed similar experiences with the pair. The couple are also suspected of a dine-and-dash incident at Bournemouth’s Urban Garden restaurant, where they allegedly ordered £170 worth of food and drink.
