A French judge sentenced Mr Durov to under formal investigation The court ordered the Russian-born executive not to leave French territory, following an investigation into organised crime on the messaging app.
“We are in contact with the French authorities and Pavel Durov’s representatives regarding this matter,” the government official said, adding that the UAE prioritises the welfare of its citizens and providing assistance to them is a key priority.
