Typhoon Gaemi made landfall on Taiwan’s east coast on Wednesday, resulting in three deaths and hundreds of injuries, according to officials.
Gaemi worsened rainfall conditions in the Philippines before reaching Taiwan, where it killed eight people. The typhoon is expected to make a second landfall in mainland China after passing Taiwan.
Taiwan’s Coast Guard Administration said the cargo ship Fu Shun, which capsized off the coast, had nine Myanmar nationals on board. In addition, three other foreign ships also got stranded during the storm but were reported to be safe.
