Olympic gymnastics champion Simone Biles has redefined her sport and its vocabulary, and now she’s taking aim at former US President Donald Trump’s controversial remarks about “black people’s jobs”.
American star Biles, 27, made a scathing comment on social media. Winning the Gold Medal in the Women’s Gymnastics All-Around Final In the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In a post on X, she tweeted, “I love my black job,” quoting a post that called her “the best” and stated that “winning gold medals and dominating gymnastics is her black job.”
The tweet was seen as a response to Trump’s recent statements in which he said that “black jobs” in the US were being taken by immigrants.
NBA ace and Team USA captain LeBron James also joined the discussion, responding to Biles’ tweet with “Black” along with a goat emoji and a heart emoji.
The exchange clearly pointed to Trump’s frequent use of the phrase, which has sparked controversy and criticism for stoking fears about immigration and reinforcing racial stereotypes.
This comment by Trump was his first time making it. First presidential debate against Joe Bidenhas faced widespread opposition. Many have questioned what a “black job” is, and accused Trump of embracing stereotypes about the type of work black people do.
Despite the massive backlash, Trump has continued to use the phrase at his rallies and during a recent appearance before the National Association of Black Journalists.
When asked to define a “black job,” Trump responded, “A black job is anybody who has a job. That’s it.” He also claimed that the country is being “invaded” by people, and that “the black population is the most affected by it.”
Although there are no racial requirements for employment in the United States, and black people hold a wide variety of jobs, Vice President Olympic gold winning gymnast.
