MP Rajeev Shukla Answer given to Pakistan in United Nations During the United Nations session, Pakistan once again raised the issue of Kashmir there.
Referring to Pakistan, Mr Shukla said, “A delegation has once again used this prestigious platform to spread lies and falsehoods. It is the habit of this delegation to resort to propaganda and false propaganda. This delegation measures the world’s largest democracy using the same criteria.
Mr Shukla said, “Let me be clear. Real democracies work differently. The people of Jammu and Kashmir voted in record numbers in the recently concluded free and fair elections. “No amount of propaganda and misinformation will change the facts on the ground.”
Pakistan is regularly engaged in spreading misinformation about Jammu and Kashmir. Recently assembly elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir Voting took place in three phases on 18 September, 25 September and 1 October. Heavy turnout was recorded in this. Phase 1 and Phase 2 saw 61.38% and 57.31% voting percentage respectively and Phase 3 recorded 69.9% voting. This reflects the tremendous faith that the people of India have in the democratic institutions. Invoking Pakistan, he said, “I urge this delegation to engage more constructively at this forum rather than using it for their divisive political agenda.”
Shri Shukla concluded his speech by assuring that India will continue to support the UN Department of Global Communications in its activities and initiatives. The Global Communications Department raises awareness of the work and objectives of the United Nations. It disseminates information around the world through multiple platforms, digital and traditional, to build support for the purposes and actions of the United Nations.
He also said, “Together we will fight the virus of misinformation and make a positive and credible impact for peace and a better world.”
