Prime Minister Narendra Modi On Thursday (August 22, 2024) “deep concern” was expressed over the ongoing events Conflict in Ukraine He said India firmly believes that no problem can be resolved on the battlefield and supports dialogue and diplomacy for early restoration of peace and stability.
He made the remarks in a joint press statement following his meeting with his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk during which they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties and decided to elevate bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.

Mr Modi said, “The ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia are a matter of deep concern for all of us. India firmly believes that no problem can be solved on the battlefield.”
Shri Modi, who will travel to Ukraine Prime Minister Modi, who arrived here tonight at the invitation of President Volodymyr Zelensky, said that loss of innocent lives in any crisis has become the biggest challenge for the entire humanity.
He said, “We support dialogue and diplomacy for the early restoration of peace and stability. For this, India is ready to provide all possible cooperation along with its friendly countries.”
Mr Modi thanked Prime Minister Tusk for his invaluable efforts to strengthen India-Poland friendship and said these were “truly commendable”.
He also thanked him for playing a key role in the evacuation of Indian students from war-torn Ukraine in 2022.
Prime Minister Modi said that India and Poland are also moving forward in close coordination on the international platform.
He said, “We both agreed that reform of the United Nations and other international institutions is the need of the hour to address global challenges.”
He also invited Polish companies to join the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
He said, “Today is a day of special importance in the relations between India and Poland. Today, after 45 years, an Indian Prime Minister has visited Poland.”
Prime Minister Modi arrived in Poland on Wednesday (August 21, 2024) for the first leg of his two-nation visit during which he will also visit the Ukrainian capital Kyiv.
His visit to Poland is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in the last 45 years.
Before the talks, Prime Minister Modi was given a ceremonial welcome at the Chancellor’s Office.
“A new milestone in India-Poland partnership! PM @narendramodi was warmly received and extended a ceremonial welcome by PM of Poland Donald Tusk at the Federal Chancellery in Warsaw. This visit by an Indian PM to Poland after 45 years will provide new impetus to India-Poland partnership,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal wrote on Twitter.
“Finally. After 45 years! Prime Minister Narendra Modi, nice to see you in Warsaw,” Mr Tusk posted on Twitter.
