Pakistan: ISIS commander among 3 arrested in Punjab province

Pakistani law enforcement agencies have arrested three suspected militants, including an “important” commander of the Islamic State (ISIS), in the country’s Punjab province, police said on Saturday.

Three ISIS terrorists were arrested during intelligence-based operations in Faisalabad, Jhelum and Chakwal cities, the Punjab Police Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) said in a statement.

The CTD said that an “important” ISIS commander Abdul Wahab was among the arrested terrorists. The other two ISIS terrorists were identified as Saifullah and Khurram Abbas.

According to the statement, explosives and weapons have been recovered from the suspects.

The arrested persons have been taken to an undisclosed location for further investigation.

Last month, the CTD arrested 38 suspected militants in Punjab province, most of whom belonged to ISIS and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
