Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s UK asylum plan has hit a hurdle with Britain saying it has no provision for temporary asylum.
According to UK immigration rules and criteria: “The UK has a proud record of providing protection to those in need. However, there is no provision in our immigration rules to allow someone to travel to the UK seeking asylum or temporary asylum.”
Furthermore, the rules state that “people in need of international protection should seek asylum in the first safe country they arrive in – this is the fastest route to protection.”
Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the country and reached India on Monday amid massive protests in Dhaka.
