Kim Jong Un oversees delivery of ‘personally designed’ ballistic missile system

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Sunday inspected the supply of a new tactical ballistic missile system to troops, state media KCNA reported on Monday.

According to KCNA, Kim also delivered a speech at a ceremonial event in Pyongyang where 250 new tactical ballistic missile launchers were unveiled.

State media described the launchers as a powerful, advanced strategic attack weapon personally designed by Kim and ready to be transferred to KPA units.

KPA refers to the Korean People’s Army, the country’s military force.

North Korea said it tested its new tactical ballistic missile last month.

In a speech to troops and military scientists, the leader was quoted as saying that Pyongyang will enhance its nuclear preparedness in the near future to deter nuclear threats and keep itself ready to respond to any challenge.

Kim reaffirmed his stance that stockpiling and improving the country’s nuclear weapons is the best way to counter nuclear threats and pressure from the United States.

According to KCNA, the reclusive state’s leader also said peace is guaranteed by “complete and unrivalled self-defence capability”.
