How Kamala Harris is hurtling towards presidency

People rarely remember Vice President Kamala Harris. It is not easy to play the supporting role of the most powerful man in the world. The shadow is so big that it is difficult to get lost in it. However, Kamala Harris has come out of Joe Biden’s shadow. And has become really big. It took just a week.

To be fair to Kamala Harris, just try to remember Joe Biden as Barack Obama’s vice president. The memory of him eating an ice cream cone will last forever.

After Biden nearly melted like an ice cream after his first presidential debate with Republican candidate Donald Trump, the Democrats endorsed Harris. It was Joe Biden who announced that he had endorsed Harris as his presidential candidate and that she would be made the heir to his $95 million campaign fund.

Kamala Harris seems to be heading to the presidency in a matter of days, as top Democrats and celebrities have pledged support for her and a new poll shows she is ahead of Trump in approval ratings. She has also raised $100 million in campaign funds from diverse populations, indicating her widespread support.

Harris was the choice of many because she was already Biden’s running mate. Choosing a different candidate would also mean launching a different campaign at a time when the election is just a few months away.

Harris also brings a lot of young voters, Black voters, and many others who find her more vibrant and youthful than Biden and Donald Trump.

Her approval ratings have already surpassed Trump’s. Harris already has the backing of top Democrats and has plenty of celebrity support, some of whom have previously called for Joe Biden to withdraw. Harris has rapidly raised substantial campaign funds, strengthening her position in a fierce election battle against Trump.

Kamala in English means lotus. And, LOTUS can mean POTUS i.e. President of the United States of America.

Top Democrats endorse Kamala Harris

It started when President Joe Biden endorsed Vice President Harris after dropping out of the race.

“Today I want to give Kamala my full support and endorsement to be our party’s nominee this year,” Biden wrote in a post on social media. “Democrats — now is the time to come together and defeat Trump. Let’s make it happen.”

This was followed by the endorsement of Representative Nancy Pelosi.

“My enthusiastic support for Kamala Harris for president is official, personal, and political,” Pelosi said in a statement.

Clinton was next.

Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton said in a joint statement, “We join millions of Americans in thanking President Biden for all he has accomplished by standing up for America again and again, always aiming to do what is best for the country. We are proud to join the president in endorsing Vice President Harris and will do everything we can to support her.”

All five Indian-American lawmakers in the House Biden’s decision has been praised by representatives including Raja Krishnamoorthi, Ro Khanna, Shri Thanedar, Pramila Jayapal and Ami Bera, three of whom have endorsed Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee.

This is for the Democratic National Convention which begins on August 19, in which he will be confirmed as the official presidential nominee of the Democratic Party.

Celebrities endorse Harris for president

George Clooney had already written an essay in the New York Times in which he called on Biden not to run for re-election. Clooney’s essay was a major blow to the Biden campaign.

After Biden dropped out of the race, Clooney praised his time as president and said he looked forward to supporting Harris in the best way possible.

George Clooney said, “President Biden has shown what true leadership is. He is saving democracy once again. We are all excited to do everything we can to support Vice President Harris in her historic campaign.”

American film director Spike Lee also supported Harris.

She posted a photo of the vice president on Instagram with the caption, “Once again, a sister comes to the rescue.”

Jamie Lee Curtis wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the vice president that Harris is “trusted and tested.”

“I wholeheartedly support Joe Biden and his decision to step down and unconditionally support Kamala Harris. She is a strong supporter of women’s rights and people of color and her message is one of hope and unity for America at a time of great national division.”

VP already leads in approval ratings

Harris is leading by 2 percentage points A Reuters/Ipsos poll found he holds a lead over Republican Donald Trump.

The latest poll showed that 56 percent of registered voters agreed that Harris, 59, is “mentally sharp and able to handle challenges,” while 49 percent said the same about Trump, 78.

Harris received 44% support, while Trump received 42%.

A CNN poll in late June also asked voters how Harris would perform against former President Trump.

Harris still outpaced Biden in June, when he had not yet concede the election. Harris received support from 50% of registered women, while Trump received 43%. Among suburban women, Harris received support from 55% of women, while Trump received 39%.

Harris also fared better among black voters, where she received 58% support, while Trump received 29%.

Among voters under the age of 35, 42% supported Harris and 41% supported Trump.

In multiple surveys and polls conducted across the US, Harris appears to be performing better in just a few days.

Harris achieves historic feat, raising millions of dollars

she has Raised an unprecedented $100 million Over 1.1 million people voted for his presidential campaign, reflecting growing support for him.

“Team Harris raised more than $100 million between Sunday afternoon and Monday evening, now with more than 1.1 million unique donors since Sunday, 62% of whom are first-time donors. This amount reflects money raised by the campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and joint fundraising committees”, the Harris campaign said on July 23.

According to the Harris campaign, this is the most money raised by any candidate in just 24 hours.

“In addition, Team Harris raised $81 million in its first 24 hours, adding to the nearly quarter-billion-dollar war chest already collected this election cycle. With this historic surge, Harris has raised the most 24-hour fundraiser of any candidate for president in history, with more than 888,000 grassroots donors giving,” it said.

It also spoke about the support the Vice President received.

“Kamala Harris has widespread support, and convicted felon Donald Trump knows that his divisive, unpopular agenda cannot stand against the vice president’s record and vision for the American people,” the campaign said.

Harris is perhaps what the US elections needed. Two things can happen here. With the kind of support she has garnered, she may be able to defeat Trump, or if Trump still emerges victorious, her victory will be a convincing victory against all odds, providing complete legitimacy to his policies and personality.
