Israel is currently fighting on two fronts. While it has launched a counteroffensive against Hamas in Gaza, the Israeli army is also facing a challenge from Lebanon’s Hezbollah group in the north.
According to Israeli security forces data, between October 9 and August 6, 2023, the Iranian terrorist army of Hezbollah fired more than 7,500 rockets towards Israel, of which 6,500 fell on Israeli territory. This suggests that 1,000 rockets either failed or fell back into Lebanon and Syria.
Israeli government spokesman David Mencer said on Wednesday, “This is a crime against humanity and one more reason why Hezbollah must be kicked out of Lebanon to protect the Lebanese people, let alone Israel. They are a threat to Lebanon.”
Hezbollah has also fired 187 drones into Israel since the start of the war.
Since the start of the war, Hezbollah attacks have killed more than 43 people, including 23 civilians (including an Indian national) and 19 members of the Israeli security forces. Israel said in a statement that the civilian casualties included eight children aged between seven and 13 years and four aged between 14 and 18 years.
It said a total of 258 people were injured in the Hezbollah attack, including 119 civilians and 139 security forces.
Israel said a total of 62,224 people, including 15,728 minors, had been internally displaced since the start of the war.
“Think of the disruption to their education,” Menser said.
A total of 98 villages, cities and towns in northern Israel and the Gaza Strip have been evacuated since the beginning of the war, and the total number of evacuated people is more than 1.40 lakh Israelis, of whom 80,000 are of working age.
Israel further said that more than 1.38 lakh acres of land had been burnt due to fires caused by rocket attacks since the war began.
