Fire engulfs school bus in Bangkok 25 students feared dead


A bus carrying young students and their teachers burst into flames in suburban Bangkok on Tuesday, killing 25 passengers, according to officials and rescue workers. The bus, carrying 44 passengers from Uthai Thani province to Ayutthaya on a school trip, caught fire in the capital’s northern suburb of Pathum Thani around noon, Transport Minister Suria Jungrunrungkit said at the scene. Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said the exact number of deaths had not yet been confirmed as the investigation was ongoing. However, based on the number of survivors, 25 people are feared dead. He said the bus was too hot for safe entry.
