The FBI said it was a Bullet grazed former US President Donald Trump’s right ear Trump was injured during an assassination attempt at his rally in Pennsylvania earlier this month, CNN reported. The first official statement from federal law enforcement about Trump’s injury comes amid a number of conspiracy theories surrounding the incident.
“The bullet that struck former President Trump’s ear was either a whole bullet or a fragmented bullet that was fired from the deceased’s rifle,” the FBI’s public relations office said in a statement.
Earlier, FBI Director Christopher Ray had said it was unclear whether Trump was hit by a bullet or shrapnel. There was also speculation about whether Trump was shot or not, with discussions on social media suggesting he was hit by a piece of glass or injured while falling.
A gunman named Thomas Crooks, 20, opened fire at a campaign rally in Butler on July 13, wounding Trump and killing one person. The shooter was later killed by a Secret Service sniper.
Trump was angered by the FBI director’s comments and he hit back on social media. He said, “No, unfortunately, it was a bullet that hit my ear and it hit hard. There was no glass, no shrapnel… No wonder the once-celebrated FBI has lost the trust of America!”
