The Port of Seattle and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport reported over the weekend that they were “experiencing disruptions to internet and web systems, impacting some airport systems.”
The cause of the incident has not yet been made public, but the airport has speculated that it may have been a cyber attack.
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport posted on its X account on August 25, “The Port of Seattle experienced some system outages this morning, indicating a possible cyber attack. The Port has isolated critical systems and is working to restore full service, but an estimated time of return is not yet known.”
The airport has urged passengers to check-in with their airline partners and arrive early due to the ongoing incident.

“Port teams are making progress toward returning systems to normal operations, but there is no estimated time of return,” the airport posted on X about 10 hours ago.
Phone systems at the Port of Seattle Marine facility were also affected by the disruption, according to the company ex-post.
