A US Airlines flight from Houston to Boston was diverted to Washington on Sunday after a passenger developed a health problem that created a “biohazard” situation on the plane.
Audio recorded from the United Airlines flight and shared on social media shows that the situation rapidly deteriorated, and crew members and other passengers became ill due to the intense odor emanating from the incident, the report said. New York Post
The Federal Aviation Administration said the Boeing 737-800 plane carrying 155 passengers and six crew members departed Houston about 9:30 a.m. and landed at Washington’s Dulles International Airport about 1:30 p.m. after the crew reported a “medical emergency.”
The situation got so bad that crew members fell sick and started vomiting, while passengers also started feeling uneasy from the stench and demanded masks. A doctor present on the plane called the situation a biological hazard and urged the pilots to land as soon as possible.
“I spoke to the crew and it seems like the situation is pretty bad in there. Crew members are vomiting and passengers are all around asking for masks,” a crew member said in the audio.
According to The Boston Globe, The plane stayed at Dulles for several hours before departing for Boston and arrived at its destination more than five hours late after a “deep cleaning.”
United Airlines said no passengers or crew required medical attention after landing.
