Former US President Barack Obama praised US President Joe Biden for his “decency, resilience and unwavering conviction”.
The Democratic National Convention in Chicago did not have the US President the world had seen for the past several years. Compared to before, Joe Biden, with his hands on the podium, stood a little straighter and tried to deliver his speeches in a proper way. Calling President Biden by his first name, Obama said, “What I admire most about Joe is his decency, his resilience and his unwavering faith in the promise of our country. Over the last four years, these are the values America needed most.”
“I’m proud to call him my president, and I’m so grateful to call him my friend,” he said.
Biden gave a fiery speech on the first night of the Democratic National Convention. Criticizing Republican candidate Donald Trump, Biden said he is nothing but a “loser.”
“Donald Trump calls America a failed nation,” Biden said, adding, “He says we’re losing. He’s going to lose; he’s totally wrong.”
Joe Biden, who has dropped out of the re-election race, said the US is “winning” and the world is “better than it was”, adding that Trump continues to “lie” about matters such as crime and immigration.
Biden also praised his successor (in the party) Kamala Harris and said, “Are you ready to vote for freedom? Are you ready to vote for democracy and America? I ask you, are you ready to choose Kamala Harris and Tim Walz?”
