In a major administrative reshuffle by the interim government led by Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus in Bangladesh, the country has recalled seven of its ambassadors posted in various countries, according to local media reports.
Seven envoys appointed on contract basis to the US, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Germany, the UAE and the Maldives by the previous Awami League government of Sheikh Hasina have been directed to return to the country immediately.
Ambassador Mohammad Imran posted in Washington, Ambassador Kamrul Hasan posted in Moscow, Ambassador Javed Patwari posted in Riyadh, Ambassador Shahabuddin Ahmed in Tokyo, Ambassador Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan posted in Berlin, Ambassador Abu Zafar posted in Abu Dhabi and High Commissioner Rear Admiral SM Abul Kalam Azad posted in Male have been recalled by the interim government of Bangladesh.
In separate notices sent by the Foreign Ministry to the envoys, they were directed to relinquish their current responsibilities and immediately return to the headquarters in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.
In addition, the interim government has also recalled First Secretary Wahiduzzaman Noor and Counselor Arifa Rahman Ruma posted in Washington.
