Judge Mohammad Rabiul Alam of Dhaka’s Special Judge Court-4 gave this order while accepting the application of the Anti-Corruption Agency. The agency had demanded to withdraw the case under the Criminal Procedure Code. An official of the Anti-Corruption Agency gave this information. the daily star Newspaper.
On August 7, the Labour Appellate Tribunal acquitted Nobel laureate and three top executives of Grameen Telecom – Ashraful Hasan, M. Shahjahan and Nurjahan Begum – of a labour law violation case in which they were sentenced to six months’ imprisonment and fined Tk 30,000 each in January.
Mr Yunus, an 84-year-old economist, was on Thursday sworn in as chief adviser to the interim government – a position equivalent to that of a prime minister.
Noor Jahan Begum, who was also accused in the corruption case, is a member of the 16-member advisory council that will assist Mr Yunus in running the state’s affairs.
Mr Yunus had a long-standing dispute with the Sheikh Hasina government for unknown reasons, while the authorities had launched several investigations against him after Sheikh Hasina came to power in 2008.

Bangladesh authorities launched a review of the statutory Grameen Bank’s activities in 2011 and removed Mr Yunus as its founding managing director for allegedly violating a government retirement regulation.
Dozens of cases were registered against Mr Yunus during Ms Hasina’s rule.
Many believe that Ms Hasina was angry when Mr Yunus announced in 2007 that he would form a political party, when a military-backed government was running the country and Ms Hasina was in jail.
