At least 24 people, including an Indonesian national, were burnt alive at a hotel owned by an Awami League leader in Bangladesh after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country, local journalists and hospital sources said on Tuesday.
Most of the victims were hotel guests who died late Monday night when a mob set fire to the Jabir International Hotel, owned by district Awami League general secretary Shaheen Chakkalader in Johor.
“The dead include an Indonesian national,” a local journalist told PTI from Dhaka.
Media reports revealed that an unidentified mob protesting against the Awami League regime started a fire on the ground floor of the hotel, which quickly spread to the upper floors.
