Thousands of protesters violated a military curfew and stormed his official residence.
“Everybody is happy, everybody is pleased, everybody is celebrating,” student Zuairia Karim said.
Local media showed the embattled leader boarding a military helicopter with his sister. Bangladesh military chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman announced plans to consult the president to form an interim government.
