According to police, the bus, carrying 43 passengers, including the driver and two attendants from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, was heading from Pokhara to Kathmandu when it met with the accident at Anbu Khaireni area on the banks of the Marsyangdi river in Tanahun district around noon.

The cause of the accident is not yet known. The accident site is located on the national highway, about 90 kilometers west of Kathmandu.
The bus, bearing Uttar Pradesh registration number, fell about 150 metres down the hilly road near the Marsyangdi river and will be pulled out with the help of a crane.
According to a news portal report, the passengers on the bus were part of a group of 104 Indian pilgrims who arrived in Nepal from Maharashtra in three buses two days ago to visit the Himalayan nation. Officials said the victims were from Varangaon, Dariyapur, Talvel and Bhusaval in Jalgaon district, 470 km from Mumbai.
