In the second leg of her visit, President Murmu will reach Mauritania on October 16, 2024. This is the first visit by an Indian leader of his stature to Mauritania after its independence in 1960. She will hold discussions with Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of Mauritania. This was followed by the signing of four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) relating to culture, cooperation between foreign office institutions, foreign office consultation and visa exemption agreements for diplomatic and official passport holders. She will also address the Indian community in Mauritania.
On October 17, President Murmu will visit Malawi at the invitation of President Lazarus Chakwera. There she will hold discussions with the President of Malawi, participate in a business event and meet NRIs. Three MoUs will be signed between India and Malawi on youth affairs, sports and cultural exchange. President Murmu will conclude her visit and depart from Malawi for India on October 19, 2024.
