US hydrothermal explosion was due to blocked underground plumbing in Yellowstone National Park Biscuit Basin


A significant hydrothermal explosion occurred in Yellowstone National Park’s Biscuit Basin at 10 a.m. on July 23, officials said after a viral video began circulating.

Biscuit Basin is located north of the famous Old Faithful geyser and adjacent to Sapphire Pool.

The video shows visitors hurriedly retreating as black debris shot skyward. In the footage, people can be seen running away as the explosion grows, with debris from the incident falling around them.
