In a bombshell revelation, former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad claimed that the head of a secret service unit assigned to counter Israeli espionage in Iran was himself an Israeli spy.

Ahmadinejad revealed that by 2021, it had become clear that the country’s most senior person responsible for handling Israel’s intelligence operations in Iran was a Mossad agent.

Ahmadinejad told CNN Turk, “Israel conducted complex operations inside Iran. They could easily get information. In Iran they are still silent about this. The person who was in charge of the unit in Iran against Israel, He was an Israeli agent.”

Ahmadinejad claimed this was not an isolated incident, adding that an additional 20 agents monitoring Israeli intelligence activities within the Iranian intelligence team were also working for the Mossad.

According to Ahmadinejad, these alleged double agents were responsible for providing Israel with sensitive information on Iran’s nuclear program. They were allegedly involved in the theft of Iranian nuclear documents in 2018 and also assassinated several Iranian nuclear scientists.

These revelations follow reports that Iranian spy gave information to Israel about the whereabouts of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah Earlier he was killed in an airstrike on Hezbollah headquarters in Beirut.

Ahmadinejad’s comments, a vocal critic of the current Iranian regime, echoed claims by former Iranian intelligence minister Ali Younesi that Israeli spies had established themselves in top echelons of power in the Islamic republic.

Younesi said in an interview in 2021, “Mossad has infiltrated many government departments over the past 10 years to such an extent that all top officials in the country should fear for their lives.”

Ahmadinejad’s allegations come amid increased tension in the region. On Tuesday, Israel’s military said it had launched a “limited and targeted” operation. Ground action against Iran-backed Hezbollah in southern LebanonBecause it continued shelling areas close to the border and carried out air strikes on the capital Beirut.

According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, Israel has been carrying out widespread airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon since September 23, resulting in more than 960 deaths and more than 2,770 injuries.
