Ground Report: Rescue teams race to find survivors after Israeli strike in Lebanon

Ashraf Wani, reporting for India Today, gives live updates from a town in south Lebanon, where Israeli air strikes have reduced a multi-storey building to rubble. Early Monday morning, an F-16 fighter jet dropped several bombs on the structure, causing its complete collapse.

“It was one of the most widespread attacks carried out by Israel in Lebanon in the past week,” Wani reported. The attack followed the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut’s southern suburbs, further exacerbating an already volatile situation in the region.

Behind Wani, building remains are scattered across the area – a clear testament to the intensity of the attack. Rescue teams, racing against time, are excavating the wreckage in hopes of finding survivors. Although the chances of finding anyone alive seem slim, the search continues in earnest.

“The atmosphere here is one of chaos and heartbreak,” says Wani. Relatives and neighbors of the building’s residents gather anxiously around, their hopes diminishing as the hours pass. Stunned by uncertainty, communities face the painful reality of loss and destruction.
