Pakistan security forces launched a massive intelligence-based operation against militants in the restive Khyber tribal district, killing 25 militants, including a top terror commander, while 11 others were injured. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) The army said on Tuesday (August 27, 2024) that “action will be taken against the Islamic State and its two allied groups.”
The Pakistan military’s media wing – Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) – in a statement citing the TTP said the operations were based on “credible intelligence” and resulted in major setbacks against Fitna al Khawarij and its allies.
“During these daring and highly successful IBOs conducted since 20 August 2024, the security forces have so far successfully neutralised twenty-five Khawarij, including the Khawarij gangster Abuzar alias Saddam who has been sent to hell, while eleven Khawarij have been injured,” the statement said.
It said four soldiers were also killed during the operation.
The heavy losses suffered by ‘Fitna al Khawarij’ in these operations were a testimony to the valour and commitment of the security forces to eliminate the threat of terrorism from the country.
Earlier this month, the government declared the TTP as ‘Fitna al-Khawarij’ and all other militants associated with the group as ‘Khariji’, a reference to a group from early Islamic history that was involved in violence.
Praising the security forces for their successful operation against Fitna al-Khawarij, President Asif Ali Zardari vowed that the state would continue the crackdown until terrorism was completely eradicated from the country.
“The security forces displayed courage and sent the terrorists to hell,” he said, paying tribute to the soldiers who laid down their lives during the operation.
He said, “We will neither compromise with the peace and order of the country nor hesitate to make any sacrifice to protect the motherland.”
